Well after the remarkable week had by the previous group, things were bound to get a little more ‘normal’. The river dropped a bit, but cleared considerably after a nice bump the previous Thursday and Friday, and it appeared that a lot of fish blasted up the canyon to the upper river. The lower continued to give up a few fish each day but the upper river picked up whatever slack had formed.
Not two minutes into the first wade on the upper river, Marjorie Jaques had a fish leaping all over Totems run. As the weekend ended and the week began, things remained slower than the previous week but interesting enough to keep everybody focused. Some bigger fish seem to move in, judging but the horse lost in the lower Cutbank and another dandy Marjorie beached in the Stump hole upriver. Early-at-’em Steve Warren proved the early bird gets more than worms by landing several fish early enough in the day that he could almost hear snoring in nearby tents, and lost a hog his last afternoon.
The river dropped giving us access to more water upriver – always a bonus for our guests later in the season.
The week wrapped up with more fresh fish entering the lower river, with Chad and Marjorie Jaques consistently pulling a few fish out of the log-jam ‘finger’ run. It was a solid week by all accounts.
