March at Andros South is typically one of the best months of the season and this year was no different. The weather the last two months was a bit colder and windier than normal so we were happy to see that it warmed up and settled down for our March guests. We’re not saying that it was nice every day, but more often than not we woke to clear skies, nice temps and not a lot of wind for most of March.

This month we welcomed back guys like Bob and Billy Hubbell, Mac McGee and his wily gang of seasoned fishermen and Jack Tonkin and Scott Hagen. Sean Ransom from SpeyPages joined us for the first time along with quite a few other first time Andros South anglers. Jeff Becker brought a great group of guests and friends for another round of bonefishing on South Andros Island. Tim Mills also joined us for the first time after being given the trip as a birthday gift from his wife.
The fishing this month was pretty consistent with some really nice size fish caught each week. We also saw quite a range of numbers landed through the month with a few days where guests brought to hand close to fifty fish per boat. Yes, fifty bonefish per boat! Not bad and some of them had some real size to them!
Many of the guests this month were open to trying to catch other available species like cuda, shark, tarpon and permit. Unfortunately no tarpon or permit were landed this month, but the guests really went to work on the cuda and shark any chance they got. Throughout the month guests fished all the southern reaches of the island with great success, along with some trips to the Westside when the tides were right. Overall the fishing was always worth the ride which made for some great stories at the “Slack Tide Bar” while we ate appetizers made with care by our ladies in the kitchen.
Thanks to all who made it happen this month!
