Casting Advice from Torrie Bevans

Torrie casts nice and easy.
Torrie casts nice and easy.

Today we’ve got a video tip of a different flavor – a little advice on your casting from Torrie Bevans, one of our guides at Andros South.

You’ve been told before that casting isn’t about power, right? You’ve been told that overpowering your rod opens up your loop, and causes even more problems when it’s windy, right?

Take it easy!

    True Story:
One day in a land far far away called Idaho I was walking upstream on the Henry’s fork at 11:30 am. Good day. Hooked five on cinnamon spinners and landed 3 over 5 hours. Saw a kind of “dudish” guy upstream who landed a fish. He was wearing a “Smoky” hat. Thought, even a blind pig etc. By the time I got to him he had landed 3 more. Most accurate caster I ever saw. He was out of spinners so I gave him half a dozen. He taught this very humbled fisherman how to do a downstream dead drift. My casting accuracy is still about the same. Boy has that down stream technique helped me in the last 30 years. I owe a lot to that “dudish” guy, Tim Rajeff, thanx.
